Debra L. Massie “Debbie”, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Wake Forest University. After graduating from Wake Forest in 1980, she taught public school for seven years before returning to law school in 1987. She graduated from the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University and was admitted to the bar in 1990. Debbie served as the Assistant Public Defender in Carteret County from 1990-1997 and as the Public Defender in Carteret County from 1997-June 2007, when she joined the firm. She is a member and past president of the Carteret County Bar Association, a member of the 3B Judicial Bar Association, and a member of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. Her practice area is Family Law. Debbie lives with her husband in Newport, North Carolina. In her free time she enjoys reading, working in her yard and sharing laughs with friends.
